Symphony Hall in and around [Boston MA]

We did something close enough recently that it fits this thread – pre-theatre (Huntington) dinner at Mida. SRV was our first choice, but the timing did not work out. The best dish was the fritto misto, low on veg, but with the calamari and peppers cleanly, crisply fried with lovely cornmeal crunch. Also lovely were the thin, fried slices of lemon. Layering one piece of calamari, one pepper and one lemon slice then biting into all three gave a lovely balance of tartness, heat and squid. My cod on a bed of farro was perfectly executed, although unexciting. My wife’s “pork bolognese” had pasta that was equally well excuted, texturally, but the sauce was rather too rife with tarragon and overloaded with celery. The promised broccoli rabe had to be hunted down.

It was a good meal, and I’d go back for the calamari.

The play we saw was The Light in the Piazza – an excellent production. We had very good seats at about a third of what similar seats would cost in NYC.
